
Disclosure: Supplemental Environmental Impact Assessment (SUEIA) Report
OrPower Twenty-Two Limited (OTTL), a subsidiary of Kaishan Group is constructing a 35 MW geothermal power plant within the Menengai geothermal field, in Nakuru county, Kenya. The green power generated from geothermal steam supplied by Geothermal Development Company (GDC) will be sold to the national utility Kenya Power & Lighting Company Ltd.,(KPLC) under a 25 year power purchase agreement. This project is in line with Kaishan Group’s efforts to develop green energy around the world. The project is on schedule to reach commercial operations by Q1 2026.
The Supplemental Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (SUEIA) for this Project has been prepared in compliance with national legislation and the safeguard requirements of international financial institutions (namely International Finance Corporation Performance Standards (PS), African Development Bank Integrated Safeguards System (ISS) and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)) to identify and assess the potential environmental and social impacts and risks associated with Project Orpower Twenty Two Limited (OTTL) 1x35 MW Modular Geothermal Power Plant in Menengai, Nakuru, Kenya.
